Things to do on your Poitou Charentes Holiday
Our Poitou Charentes holiday gite is situated just 15 minutes from the local market town of Chalais and 10 minutes from Montguyon with shops, bars, post office, restaurants, banks, doctors and weekly markets.
Le Jardin des Brandes is the perfect place to wind down. You can spend your days relaxing by the pool and enjoying the views of the Poitou Charentes countryside, or if you wish below are a few suggestions of places to go and things to do.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is a large cosmopolitan city, with something to suit everyone whether it is the beautiful architecture and museums or just a great place to shop. If you don't feel like driving why not take the train from nearby Chalais.
Cognac
Why not take a trip to Cognac and visit the Hennessy or Martell Cognac distilleries, or just take a stroll through it's old quaint streets.
St Emilion
St Emilion is a must to visit. Above ground are the quaint old cobbled streets, where every other shop sells wine, below ground are the catacombs, and the monolithic church which were all carved out of solid limestone rock.

The choice is yours - swimming, boating or just relaxing in the sun.
If you wish you may even try horse-riding through the Charente-Maritime or hire a canoe and paddle leisurely along the nearby waterways.
Restaurants
There are plenty of good restaurants to choose from in the local area. The Chateau in Chalais is always a popular choice for those who want to dine somewhere special.
